Soul-ful experience with a local flavor

Revocation is a highly underrated band in the country, and they truly know how to rock. The boys from ATL always put on a fantastic rock show. Unfortunately, they usually aren't the headliner, which is why I eagerly anticipated their headline show in Phoenix with support from the Gin Blossoms. Gin Blossoms, an excellent band from the Phoenix area, did not disappoint. The local crowd warmly received their energetic set, with lead vocalist Robin Wilson in fine voice. He even lent his talents for backup vocals to the opening band, The Black Moods, a hard-rocking trio also from Phoenix. The Gin Blossoms' set, featuring awesome renditions of their hit songs, warmed up the crowd for Revocation. Opening with a new song can be risky, but Revocation pulled it off with their rockability and new CD "Blood". Towards the end of the show, they surprised everyone with a true-to-original version of REM's The One I Love, with Robin Wilson on lead vocals - a definite highlight of the night. The entire set was performed loud and proud, including four new songs from "Blood". After 25 years, Revocation is still going strong, and I can't wait for the next 25 years of rock from them.
